Have used HR tax software for years---generally very good ---this year had issues importing last years info?? and help was and still hard to get??
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Updater issues

Extremely disappointed in the software updates. I have an iMac and neither the federal or state program updates would install. I finally had to close the program and search for the 2023 federal software updates and install, close the program again and search for 2023 state updates for Mac, download and install. The program would not allow me to efile until I had completed
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

I've not had many issues with the program in previous editions, but this year's was a frustrating experience. It recorded my W2 income twice, which caused problems later as it underwent the verification review process. It also appeared to skip my banking info entirely regarding payment/refund info. Only after I closed the program and redid or verified everything again did it work properly (hopefully). This year's edition is pretty dang frustrating overall.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great except that it's buggy

Got stuck in an infinite loop where 'update' to the latest federal return would quite the program, install an update, run the program again, and then you're right back where you started, needing an update. And sometimes it would just crash. Last year (2022), it kept crashing and losing data, because it didn't save as it went. I generally like the program, but H&R Block needs to take software quality and testing seriously.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Software is getting much better

The software efiled my fed return and came back with a very useful email telling me how to get the software to tell me why the efiled fed return was not accepted by IRS. The software gave me a clear answer, and crucially it gave me a link showing how to correct the problem, how to change and fix an entralloy (prior year AGI) that I would never have been able to change and fix without those instructions. So I was very pleased with how the software worked to allow me to efile
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been using H&R Block for almost 20 years and am really pleased how the software guides me and thru out the compete return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Some parts are confusing
