It's just OK. Needs to step up their game.

For a "Deluxe" version I would have expected more. I couldn't submit when I wanted to because of software updates that were needed in order to accept my 1099 info and process it correctly. The software should be looking at past returns (I've used the software for more than a decade) and look for anomalies. The data checks are annoying because there's no reason these checks would invalidate a return, but the default action is to but the user in an infinite look of continuing to look at the data checks. Bad design!
Pros: Easy to import documents

CONTINUED PROBLEMS WITH PRINTING FORMATTING

HRB Continues to struggle with simple printing features and scaling defects, making it almost impossible to get a decent printout of your returns for review of the worksheets and forms and an "as submitted" 1040 package. This has been going on for years with no improvement still. Further the vague language often used in the interview with incomplete or unclear antecedent references are needlessly exasperating. E-filing features are adequate however.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use.

Have been using H&R Deluxe for years. Like the way it brings forward the previous year's information - especially the 2023 energy credit brought forward. Price is great. Submission had to wait until after Feb 23 when a required updated was needed.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Things seem to have improved since last year. More intuitive, including all forms I needed unlike last year. Price was good. Only problem couldn’t figure out how to save pff

Recalculate doesn't always work

I had entered a Wash Sale amount in the wrong entry box. When I corrected it the Form 8949 did not change to reflect the correction. I had to delete ALL the 1099B entries and reenter to get corrected 8949.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents

It's pretty obvious that the state products are an afterthought. Instructions are particularly vague. More infuriating is the fact that they want me to pay for e-filing.

Overall does a good job but needs work in the QCD reporting of income area. Need examples and drill down questions to make entering the info easier and more understandable

Not good for Iowa state software

Software excludes forms I needed to determine if an underpayment penalty applied. Instead of providing the form and doing the match, it prompted me to download the form and do the math myself. This should be included in the software. If I wanted to print forms and do the math by hand myself I wouldn't be paying for this software. Please update this for Iowa.
