I’ve used the product for years now moving over from a competitor product about 12 years ago And well satisfied with it, it is easy, concise and accurate

H&R Block Deluxe + State

I bought this about 4 day ago and have completed my federal and state tax return. I found the program easy to work with. I had a few questions going through the process and did not find the help to be much help. However, the chat worked pretty well when chatting with a person and I was able to get my questions pretty well answered. There were a couple of things that I needed to follow up with the Federal or state IRS to resolve. The information related to the e-file process was pretty sketchy I felt, and if you wanted to under stand the process and requirements prior to starting the e-file you had to do some additional research. The online chat helped somewhat but I still needed to do some research on my own.
I am not at all happy with the display options. I am an older individual and my eyesight is a bit tired. I have a large computer monitor so I can expand things to make them easy to read. This program does not seem to allow you to do that. If you expand the view part of the forms and screens get cut off with no scroll bar to get to the hidden part. So I was forced to strain to see very small print and sit inches away from my monitor. This made it very uncomfortable to work with. I think this needs to be fixed. The view should be able to be adjusted for ease of viewing. That could be done without causing problems for how forms print or display for e-filing. I would have given a higher rating if not for this issue.

I bought this year’s program which I always purchase each year. The only negative thing about this program is if your taxes are rejected and you make a correction then it uses up two e-files. There should be a way that you’re not charged for another one or use up two of the 5 that’s given to you. The program should allow you to use the same activation code if you have to make a correction.

Lot of Bugs for 2023

The tax program worked okay, nothing special, but our taxes anymore are fairly vanilla. The updater didn’t function and downloading the state program required tech intervention. There is no tax assistance, just a number to the IRS help desk. All in all a much balkier program compared to years past.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Final filing is confusing

The state didn't download as it should have with the federal. After completing the state, it gave me "go to" instructions and ran me in circles. Why not just take me there directly, instead of having me complete three steps? The rest of the process was fine.

the standard deduction amounts on federal and state should show at the beginning of the deduction section, not at the end. That way you can decide whether to do it or not.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents
