I got a bill from the IRS and I went back to the program to see if I could find the error and there was no record of my return! I had filed online, so it was there, but somehow it's gone

I have used H&R Block Deluxe tax software for many years. Just follow instructions, answer questions, import tax documents,... to maximize the return, file online and receive return directly deposit to your bank account
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Misleading feature

This year I needed to file extension and, after reviewing my data, the software reflected what I thought was a refund. The "amount of tax owed" showed an amount in brackets. Normally, an amount in brackets () is a negative, meaning a refund. After filing my return, I was surprised that I owed money, rather than receive a refund. I guess I need to pay more attention to the way the software reports numbers.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

No real support

NO way to efile on state return only. Impossible to stop credit card charge for failed electronic file.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

Not Quite Good Enough

I've been using this for my simple return and for a friend who doesn't really need to file. It's fine for those returns. But a friend begged me to do his return and I agreed, eve though I knew his was more complicated. This software caused his return to be rejected because it didn't include a form that the interview process didn't cue. Granted I'm not as familiar with this one, but if the interview had mentioned Form 1095-A, the return would not have been rejected originally. Also, the software font is extremely small and I have not found a way to increase or magnify it. It's horribly difficult to read!!!

Really bad this year

I had to file an extension as the application crashed after every section that I finished and did not save the information. Finally after 5 months and right before the extension deadline I was able to transmit to the IRS (nothing saved and I had to input everything again). Unfortunately this will be my last year using this product after 15 plus years of usage.
