Good way to do your taxes. Couldn't do without it

Generally, very easy to download, install, and Import previous year's data. Will use again next year because of the ease of importing previous year's data. I do have one comment on the "Additional Deductions" page. Apparently, in recent years, these expenses were disallowed on the Federal return. I wasn't aware of that, so I spent considerable time putting together documentation for ~$4k of Investment Expenses, only find that I received no benefit for this deduction. These expenses are only entered for a state return. I live in Florida. So, no benefit was received for entering this expense. This page of the interview should be excluded once the software knows that I'm in a no-income tax state, or clearly identify that the page is only for entering data for a state return. It's as if the software writer got lazy when incorporating the associated change in the tax law. Otherwise, the program met my needs, and is sooo much preferable to trying to do a paper return. Also, the software is like having CPA advice for most tax filing issues. The IRS rules are either clearly provided in the software, or the software tells you where to get the IRS info. I simply could not complete my return myself without a software program, and this is a good one.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I have used H&R Block Deluxe to prepare my tax return for many years now and recommend it to others. It walks you through the process, provides updates to changes in the tax laws, pulls in your data from previous year's returns, and edits and alerts you to any errors.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Too many validations and unoverridable wrong calcs

I imported most of my tax data in from other banks. However, the amount of data validation that the software required was as if I entered everything manually. Then I also got to the state product and it had the wrong calculation (double one of our W2s). I was unable to correct that no matter how many deletes of data and forms and reinstalling of the software that support asked me to do. In the end it didn't let me fix it. I don't trust this product and will not be using it again. It may be "good enough" for some peoples returns... not our multi-state MFJ.

This program was very, very basic. It would not let me download financial data from any of my investments, which were mainly large companies. It also gave poor descriptions of many forms. I don't plan to use this program in the future.
