One Small Issue

As a long time user of HRBLOCK TAX SOFTWARE I found this year's product not as good as previous years. The messaging wasn't as clear as it should have been in a number of cases. I was troubled with a Data Verification that came up on the final check before transmitting the returns. It wanted me to edit the line 12 so it could determine if the state refund from 2021 was taxable. Line 12 wanted the itemized tax deduction value used even though I used the standard deduction in the return. It didn't tell me what to do with the value, it didn't accept "0". After trying unsuccessfully a number of times, I just closed the window , and hope for the best!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I personally have found this software to be the best for my tax filing needs. Have used it for years, and the software program continues to improve each year, it seems to me, with this year's (2022 filing season) being the best/easiest yet in terms of keeping--and importantly, saving to USB--continued records for next year's purposes. I like the prompts along the way as reminders about various deductions, etc, too, since my filings are relatively complicated. I appreciate this year's improved e-filing options for both fed and state with its e-confirmation receipts as well. This year's filing went very well. I hope 2023 is equally easy--and dare I say, fun(?) to file. It's great when things work well!

I’ve used this software for 4 years and find it quick and easy to use once you organize your tax docs. Only problem this year was getting past the pop up ad for HR BLOCK other assistants once past that done and filled quickly

Straight forward and relatively easy to use. Allows you to download from your broker, which saves a ton of time. My state return (PA) literally wrote itself from the federal return. I just had to review it and sign it.

Have been using for a few years so could import most information. Very easy to use. Only flaw was that it asked if I itemized deductions from last year but had the information already in previous year tax file.
