Faulty Software

I filed my returns and they were rejected because of faulty software. I did not file until March 12th so I would expect the software to be fully functional. An update was installed on March 16 that fixed the problem and then I had to refile again.

Usually a great software. This years software was not up to par. Summitted returns the 1st time and after a couple days, they returned to unsubmitted status. After a week or so the charges for the state return finally dropped of my CC. 2nd submission was hung in "pending" for around a week. Called customer service and after another 5 days they were finally able to un-stick it. Submitted a 3rd time and the returns finally went thru. Updates were also a pain. Constant download error messages when trying to use the update button. Had to go to the website to download updates most of the time. Software in the past has been great!! But the 2022 software was a big, big pain!!!!

Easy to use. Minor issue- If there is "0" data in a block, it keeps asking to have it reviewed. Also, additional charge to electronically file STATE taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

Unfortunately this will most likely be the last year of purchase after I suspect well over a decade of use. I like the fact that previous year data was automatically uploaded, however this year and last year I was forced to mail my return in. The AGI number entered to allow the return to be filed electronically did not match the IRS records. I pulled my transcript from the IRS site both years and the number that the software was supposed to enter looked correct however IRS is not apparently seeing it in the correct field. I resubmitted at least 4-times with no success, forcing me to mail it.
Pros: Easy to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H & R Block tax software for well over a decade. It is easy to use, has helpful advice about each topic, and is pretty intuitive. I’m 73 and my taxes have gotten more complicated over the years as my investments have grown. I do not have a business degree or any training in tax preparation but I am still able to complete my taxes with confidence due to this software. I would recommend this to a friend for its many features and relatively low price.
