As usual, easy to use and surprisingly full featured. One complaint: it asked me for property taxes I paid as a resident of MO since they are deductible in MO. I entered them knowing I used the standard not itemized form Fed 1040. I then e-filed my Fed return immediately since I did not plan to pay to e-file my MO return.
I did not see any warning that even if I don't qualify for this deduction, I would have to submit my MO state return by paper. I then had to fill out a state form for the deduction, for which I did not qualify to make. The end result was: 1, a lot of manual work and research to complete my MO return, 2: since I had to include my Fed 1040, it took that non-deductible deduction and showed I had less income than I really had, 3: which resulted in my MO return being kicked back and I had to pay more state taxes (thru a reduced refund), Kind of ruined my spirits a little, all that work for nothing.
If I had known it would not be deductible on my state return, I would have answered $0 for real estate tax deduction.
I have used H&R Block's (Taxcut) software to do my taxes for years now and I have never had a problem ... with either completing the return or with the return itself. I love the way the questions are laid out so that you can easily complete your return in a logical and easy to understand manner. Keep up the great work! :-)
