I have struggled for years doing our taxes Satimanually then putting them in the mail and waiting months to get our refund. Last year my sister-in-law invited me to share her H&R Block electronic tax software. It was easy to learn, even for an old timer like me. When I finished the Fed and State returns and hit Send, it felt good. Our refund was received in weeks not months. We used it again this year and will continue from now on. Thanks H&R Block.

I've been using H&R Block Deluxe for Mac for the previous 5 tax years, but I had a problem this year that I've never had before. I'm using the Ventura operating system and anytime I tried to do an update on the H&R Block software, the update failed and I had to reboot to get it to work correctly. There seems to be some kind of issue where if you start the tax software, a process doesn't die when you close the program and that seems to be keeping the updates from working. It seems that a reboot kills the process. I had a similar issue where my state tax program refused to load until I rebooted and then did an install. I've never had these issues before with this software. I plan to use H&R Block next year, but I want to see this problem fixed on Mac. I never had this problem before. Otherwise the software did work correctly when doing my taxes and I had no problems to submit my returns.

Cons: Hard to import documents

I switched from Turbo Tax to H & R Deluxe. It meets my requirements for completing the most difficult parts of our tax returns. It saves me hours of filling out forms and provides explanations when I'm not clear how to answer. The final check that checks for errors or inconsistencies is great.

Consistently good software... I use it every year. There are a couple of klugy things on some steps (like a lack of help or explanation, or things that don't carry over but SHOULD, but overall, it's easy to use and efficient. And it's priced reasonably.
