The thing that I like best is that the software does not demand microsoft's latest and greatest - older orphaned versions will work, unlike some other tax purveyors

I felt the software was very straightforward and all the data was readily accessible. I’ve used TurboTax for about 10yrs and decided to give HR a try and loved it. I’m using HR for the foreseeable future.

Problems with this year's tax return submission

I have used H&R Block software for years w/o any problems, but this year I got "activation code error" messages twice. I called the text support number and was given a new activation code, but this shouldn't be happening. I hope this isn't a problem that I'll experience next year.

When H & R Block makes mistakes in their software, which happens quite often, they don’t bother to fix it when it is reported to them. They just ignore the customer, and leave the mistake in the software. This causes the customer to file inaccurate tax returns, which could lead to an audit and penalties.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Two things that was troubling this year! First: you need to give a choice before filing whether you want 1040 form or a 1040SR form. I ended up interning data twice because of that as it gave the 1040 from starting. Second: Every time I wanted to print anything I had to make sure to change printer to print on both sides. I would you would need to change only once.
