I have used this software for more than 5 years for filing my returns and have been pleased with the user friendliness and accuracy. I find the Accuracy Check a bit cumbersome and unclear/no-so-user-friendly that delays efiling. I also had to find other resources to resolve why my efiling kept being rejected this year! No Block options worked but a competitor’s hints did! My paper return for 2020 was delayed being accepted by IRS due to Covid so my required AGI number would not work as the required “code” for acceptance. If your 2020 return wasn’t processed prior to Nov 21, you need to use “0” as your AGI for your efiling number for your return to be accepted. Even your IRS transcript won’t help you in this case.
Received a "unpaid tax" notice from the federal IRS which I shared with my financial advisor. He indicated that my IRA conversion was being treated as a rollover. With his help I filled an amendment costing much more tax and then received an overpayment refund from the state IRS. I have no faith in this program.
Very easy to use and software will prompt you for info when you may have forgotten something, or because a box got checked somewhere or a form was selected. I have had no problems using the software for 9 years, now.
The tax program works great unless you receive a W2-G from a state other than the one you live in which doesn't have a state tax. Then you have to go find a tax office to actually go through the requirements of filling for out of state taxes. Then you pay for the online tax CD and the office visit. Confusing.
