I've used the H&R Block software for at least the last 8 years. It is easy to use with straightforward questions and access to additional information if you're not sure where to find the information needed. Using it in successive years makes it even easier by pre-populating certain fields and verifying differences from previous filings. The software is reasonably priced and available with a convenient download.

This SW is good, it works. The only reason I give it 4 Stars is due to some of the explanations are either too difficult to understand or non-existent, for us mere mortals which are not CPAs, so for a product that is meant for us, there should be a PLAIN English version of the explanations, as most of the USA does not speak legal-ese.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

I've used H&R Block software for many years and found it to be adequate for what I need. We've gone from my being employed and my wife running a small business to selling a home and retiring, and it work well for all cases. You can follow the interview or jump around to enter values. It automatically carries forward data from the previous years. A quirk is that state deductions are pulled from your federal itemized deductions, so you have to fill in the federal ones even if you know you won't itemize on federal. Also, getting help on specific lines could definitely be improved.
