I have been using H&R for at least 10 years. I worked well until 2020 tax filing. In 2020 because of poor programing It cost me financial losses..The same in 2021 tax year. It has become an unreliable software..
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

Mostly intuitive and simple to use. Easy to edit the forms themselves. The federal efile is great. Make sure to print your state one properly. One mistake had me reprinting 30 pages of documents!

I have been using this program for years. However, this year it didn't work. I have a simple return, and I just got hit with a State tax penalty and my Federal return was readjusted. My information was simple, I have no idea why I would get hit with a $1600 State return bill. I now don't trust this program. This is not good with someone that is now retired and on a fixed income.

Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
