My mother is on Social Security and it would not file until SS updated. Every time she tried to update, it would not update. She had to file by paper because she was locked in the program. Still has not gotten refund.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
My Federal K-1 had an entry in ordinary income, but the NJK-1 listed this as pension income. (Both K-1s were correct. The amount is supposed to be shown as ordinary income on the federal K-1 and as pension income on the NJK-1.) The software put the amount on the wrong line of the NJ return, so I had to use the override feature to input the NJK-1 correctly on my NJ return. Spent one hour on the phone with the help department. The first person I spoke with was unable to resolve the issue so he connected me to the next higher level of help. That person determined that the H&R Block Software could not handle some of the items correctly on a NJK-1 and that my solution of overriding the entry was the only solution. He stated that he would contact the programmers about this issue and request that they update the software in the future so that the NJK-1 can be handled correctly when there are differences with the federal K-1 so that no override would be needed. The H&R Block personnel that I spoke with were easy to deal with and very professional.
Great software for federal filing. Had some issues with Michigan filing though. It gave me deductions I was entitled to take as an out of state resident. I had to over ride the software.
