I have used H&R Block Deluxe for several years now. It has worked well to this point as my returns were fairly simple. This year, my return was a bit more complicated and the software couldn't handle it. It would not transpose figures correctly onto additional required forms. For this reason, when attempting to file my return electronically, it kept getting rejected. I had to resort to mailing in a paper return. The result: 4 months and still waiting for my tax refund.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Software seems to work well and is usable on older versions of Windows. Does direct import of data from the Financial Institution that other software I have used does not handle at all. Navigation within the software is somewhat difficult and confusing to me as there are times I need to jump back and forth to places I have been and return to where I left off. Rounding does not seem to match IRS rounding exactly, but seems to be within $1. Finally, as a 75 year old retiree who invested in their retirement H&R Block Deluxe DOES include coverage for 1099B which most other software packages only bundle with business packages for things like rental property etc. This is the main reason I changed to H&R block.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I have been using H&R Block tax software for several years. It is very user friendly and easy to use. The importing of information from one year to another reduces the amount of time necessary. Even when I sold my rental property and wenet to a more basic tax scenario, the program handled the transition seamlessly. I have also used the state program (Ohio) and it is just as easy. The program seems to be accurate and gives the optimal refund.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Many users, especially those on Verizon, have trouble connecting to Block's servers. This appears to be a certificate issue.
Also, there are some calculations done "behind the scenes" with no explanation. It would be helpful if a worksheet was available for printing.
Pros: Easy to prepare

This software is easy to understand and use. Also checks the return for accuracy, allowing corrections of errors. Does a reviw for any issues that may cause an audit, making sure you are aware of any issues.
