Software is fine except you eliminated the direct 1099 download from Charles Schwab this year....can't believe it. Your competitor did not. This is one of the most important features that I use. Can't believe I had to enter all manually.
I have had an issue with the software not recognizing the entry of my wife's HSA contribution for the year. It would recognize my max contribution of $4600 for the year, but after I would enter the same amount for my wife, it would show a value of zero, which of course would not reflect in the reduction of our taxes for the year as it should. Other than that glitch, I like the software and would have rated it a 5 star.
The software is easy to use. Prior year data is routinely imported. Data is transferred to the State simply. Automaticaaly screens for errors. Overall it's a can't fail procedure.
Software is a great timesaver and simplifies the tax process with guided questions. It gives confidence that taxes have been optimized and even indicates audit risk. Then the online filing ensures filed on time and accepted by IRS.
I've used this software for several years. The cost is reasonable. It provides the features needed for an uncomplicated tax return. And easily transfers information to my state return as well. I particularly like the fact that the software can extract income information from about a third of my IRA's. This prevents entry errors and limits forgetfulness. I am concerned about back-up of past years (so keep paper copy) having found that retrieving past returns requires updating the old software (no cost). A puzzle since these were saved as pdf's. In 2021 I installed a home charging system for my EV. The cost might have reduced my taxes a bit, but this software did not include the necessary forms. I knew this in advance and recommend that the buyer check out coverage before buying.
