I've been preparing my tax returns using the H & R Block software for many years and find it extremely easy to navigate and submit. Very user friendly and intuitive to use.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
After 18 years of using Taxcut, we are DONE! Everything has been going perfectly until I tried to submit my 2021 return! The IRS rejected it!
I spent several hours tracking down the cause...incorrect math in my itemized deductions medical expenses. It took zeroing all of them to get a different error.
Several more hours to determine that my long & short term capital loss carryover was causing the problem. So I zeroed those out as well!
The IRS finally accepted my return.
THEN I got a letter from the IRS claiming my dependents were too old. WHAT DEPENDENTS??? That's NOT what I saw on the screen nor were any dependents on my printed copy! I have not had nor declared any dependents since I divorced my wife and her daughter 29 years ago!!!!! I'm still awaiting their response to my reply 3 months ago.
In short, your team of programmers has forgotten one of the most important rules of making changes to an existing program...regression testing! When something gets changed, it's important that it didn't 'break' something elsewhere and seemingly unrelated! It' like a sloppy mechanic fixing the brakes and causing the A/C to stop working. The newly printed college IT degrees aren't worth the paper they're printed on! Oh...I'm a retired mainframe computer consultant with over 40 years in the business!
