Software very good at directing you if you have experience with doing taxes. On the other hand marketing is deceiving on if state file is free (it’s not). Filing out state form is free, but not the filing. Also, software made it seem that if you didn’t pay the filing fee then it could affect your electronic state filing if you didn’t file both federal and state at the same time. Well I paid the fee for state to do it at the same time and when my federal electronic file was rejected, my state also rejected the electronic file. I feel that I should be refunded my state filing fee as I had to paper file my federal form and state form due to the issue with the IRS rejection of the electronic filing.
Used this software for approx. 15 years. Everything was easy. Only problem was the fact that I worked in New York, but lived in New Jersey - it was always a problem allocating my wages to both of the states. In other words, I was required to file a state return for both states. and the software kept thinking (on the Federal return) that my income was doubled. When I tried to manually override the doubling, the software wouldn't allow it. So I filed anyway, and the IRS always accepted it.
Form 8962 is not working correctly. The questions for form 8962 don't allow modification for anything other than then number of dependents filed on the return, even if you have children on your healthcare policy that file separate returns but should still be included on my 8962. Part 1 number one doesn't allow for this modification. If you change the number on the actual form, it prevents e-filing.
It would be great for someone to give me a call to discuss. I cannot believe that you did not have the form I needed this year and had to go to another software to do my taxes
