every year after one use if you go back into the software it checks for any federal or state updates. When it does it ALWAYS fail with the message 'taxdatastorehandler' not found. when calling support all they can tell me is to try a different download
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

1099-NEC were not carried forward to Schedule C and thus were not shown on Schedule 1040. No wonder the IRS rejected my return!
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pictures did not work. I corrected data. New mistakes on numbers i had just out in came up. I fixed everything 3 times and when I went to turn it in, I was denied by the irs because said the AGI was wrong. By the way, the default is 0 and if you try to change that greyed out number, you can't click on it. Go ahead use this software and hate yourself.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It has been a nightmare to navigate, when I finally made it to the end, I was prompted to pay my federal return, and I did, but there is ZERO evidence that the payment went through. My credit card has not been charged, but I guarantee if I send another payment, I will be charged double and the IRS will take an we will get it to you when we get it to you attitude.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Experience until the File Tab
on April 21, 2022

Everything worked great until it came time to file. The instructions were clear, the interview screens flowed more smoothly than in prior versions, and the accuracy was dependable. That is, until Accuracy Check found two issues while in the File tab. First, the Federal and NY State versions could not agree on the Driver's License ID data format, even after the State worksheet was corrected as the State program insisted. E-file was allowed in spite of this issue remaining unresolved. This has been an issue since driver's license data was first collected. Data entry guidance in the driver's license interview screen for both Federal and State programs is suggested in order to provide a better user experience. A second error (again, at the File tab) was totally unforgiving and necessitated a call to Help/Support as there was no FAQ found for resolution. Box 16 of two 1099-R forms was blank as received from the issuer and therefore set as blank in the Federal interview screens. But Accuracy check demanded the field be non-blank (including non-zero) in order to e-file. After many years as a user, this is the first experience of this issue. This is a catch-22, since NY State demands e-filing if tax software is used. The solution offered, which worked, was to copy the data from Box 1 to Box 16, even if box 2a shows different data. (Warning: although this solution worked in my case, it's possible this is may not apply in general. For example, the possibility of city and/or local data altering this solution was not discussed as they did not apply.) Although the time devoted to pursuing these two issues was protracted, the e-file returns were ultimately accepted, thanks to the professional and courteous help/support that was offered. Lastly, in the NY State program formatting numerical fields to convention and using both upper and lower case in alphabetic fields would improve the user experience in terms of readability.
