529 support is non-existent. ESPP support is almost that bad.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

MISSING a vital Form

Form 9815-F was supported by HR this form was vital to finish my Taxes. TurboTax supported this form so i was forced to buy TurboTax to finish my Taxes for 2021. I WILL NEVER BUY HR TAX SOFTWARE AGAIN !!!
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

Doesn't print the right 1/4 of the page.

For reasons I can't fathom, the software only prints 3/4 of the page width. Pretty sure no government will accept this. All the numbers are on the right 1/4 that it doesn't put on the page. I will have to print state forms and fill them out by hand, while I wonder why I paid for this software.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I keep getting rejected based on prior year’s AGI. It is ok. Check boxes are incorrectly filled and overrides prevent electronic filing. Wha??? No we were not military. But no I can’t say that or it will prevent e filing. Wha??
Cons: Time consuming

No longer does QBI (Forms 8995 and 8995-A)

The product is good but could use improvement in a few areas. The previous two years, it automatically did the Qualfied Business Income form (8995 or 8995-A). This year, the software says, "Go figure it out yourself." No explanation for the change. Basically you would need a college course to figure out how to fill out this form. The IRS instructions are gobbledegook. A second complaint: the software forces you to review every stinking stock transactions, including the dozens of "micro-trades" of a dollar or less that you get for holding a precious metals ETF like GLD or SLV. That might not be so bad, and maybe it is required by the IRS, but the software makes it harder. You review one, then when you are done, it does not take you back to your original position in the list. Instead, you have to scroll down from the beginning of the list to find the next entry to review. You have to do a lot of such scrolling, as the list is generally very long (I had over 100 such entries for GLD alone). Repeat ad nauseum. The process takes hours. I may try Turbo Tax next year.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

H&R Block software makes tax filings stress-free

I have been using H&R Block tax preparation software over a decade now (since back then when it was named TaxCut). It has been so easy to use that I have been just buying the new version ever year to do my taxes. It takes the stress out of doing my taxes, because it gives me confidence that I can do it by myself without outside help even on the last weekend just before the tax day (yes, I am a procrastinator!).
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

A few bugs

I encountered a few bugs this year. I completed my return and those of my two sons. I was completing my son's return when I got to the state return section. It downloaded the state return software and installed it. When it came back up, it had switched to my return at the step in the process to start my state return, which I was not an yet in my return. Also, for every 1099-int that I entered, it gave me no place to enter the fed id for the payer/bank. So, when it check for issues before finalizing the return, I had to enter it manually, directly on the form. Also, I had a distribution from a college savings plan. Instead of providing information on how to calculate what is taxable, it just pointed me to an IRS publication.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Missed one step

Somehow I thought I would receive an email or bill or something for amount owed. It was only when, a couple of weeks after filing, that I went back and checked status of return and realized there were more steps to finish.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!
