Buggy software

I used the Deluxe 2021 Fed + State and found it to contain many annoying bugs which I had to report to get them fixed.
One of the worst bugs was filling out the 1099-B capital gains entries. I had over 300 transactions to enter and once it exceeded this number I started to get program crashes every time I inputed another capital gain transaction. The program just terminates. Also the program is poorly designed for large numbers of capital gain entries because it cycles through each transaction after a new entry is entered. Because of this the program is very slow! A better design would be to not cycle through each entry until you have finished with all entries.

IRS KEEPS REJECTING MY RETURN

i HAVE CHECKED THE TRANSCRIPT ETC OF MY rETURN FROM 2020 AND THE irs IS CONTINUALLY REJECTING THE RETURN STATING THE 2020AGI IS INCORRECT.

If you use this program every year the import information from last year's return makes it so fast and easy! The program literally keeps you from making mistakes! I would bet that the IRS loves this program as it probably makes it easy for them!!!!

We have used H&R Block for many decades now. It's simply the most thorough and easiest software out there. Highly recommend!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

Federal e-file was rejected

IRS needed IP #. Instructions do not point this out. Plus I had to pay twice to e-file my NJ State Return

I have used this for many years and it is easy and efficient to use. Best part is not having to re-enter information since it is imported from previous year.

I could not get software to print name of spouse on either federal or state tax returns. I wrote in the information which I am sure will cause a delay in the refunds being issued.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare

Audit Risk many errors = no confidence

I’ve used this program for over 10 years for me and my kids. It has always been Simple, direct, helpful and accurate. No problems this year until I see my audit risk results. It says I’m at moderate risk and lists 6 factors, but 5 of those are absolutely wrong and even contradictory. One says I make over $75k and claimed XX, the next says I make under $75k and claimed YY, and another says I run my own business and claimed 2 other things. But none of those were true. If your program got these multiple simple elements so wrong, why should I believe you got the calculations right? Ridiculous.
You also posed a confirming question (about income?) as a double negative, which was confusing ( Rather than ask the options as: X is more than $YY then confirm with X is less than $YY, you confirmed with something like X is not less than $YY.)
