State of Maine software is very very lacking !!

State of Maine software very basic, at best. The section to calculate if you owe an under withholding penalty, literally tells you to go to the State website, print off form, fill out and include it with your return. Completely Third Rate !!

Easy to use, but e-filing was a nightmare.

Easy to use tax preparation software. I've used H&R Block software for many years to mail in my taxes. Finally decided to e-file instead this year of mailing the taxes in. Unfortunately when I went to e-file my returns they were rejected by the IRS as the AGI didn't match the previous tax year. That AGI figure was verified by reviewing my 2020 taxes and by contacting the IRS. AGI figure I used was exact and true. Tried several other solutions such as editing the AGI to "0" but no luck. H&R Customer Service advised the only other option was to print and mail. A possible software glitch?? I am now filing paper returns and waiting to see if my credit card was charged for the 4 attempts at filing my state taxes. Next tax year I may try the competitor's software and see how that goes.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare

Could not handle the tough stuff

I received a "Grantor Trust" document in lieu of a K-1 from one of my investments. I consulted my financial advisor who found a H&R Instruction sheet on how to enter the data. It was a nightmare to figure it out. The step by step instructions did not march my Deluxe program. I just hope that I don't receive a penalty from the IRS after completing this.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare

In general, the program is easy to follow; however, instructions to process a K1 form are lacking. I also note that last minute (4/8/22) updates are undesirable. Significantly, I have no idea what's in the update and whether I need to change my submission. NOT GOOD!
As of 4/8 the three buttons on the 'Additional Help Resources' are non-functional

I use H&R Block for 10+ years. It is good software, easy and clear.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!
