Tax Year 2020 1040-X Amendment Experience

Poor review of amendment process (generally happy with the original filing): I'm sorry to say I thought this process was very convoluted and hard to follow to amend my tax return. I felt like I had to reverse engineer the entries to make everything come out since it was hard to distinguish what was meant by original info versus updated info in the columns. The accuracy check seemed to come up too soon - the program hadn't even asked for data that showed up missing. Also, unhelpful to let me go all the way down the e-file path only then to be told the e-filing date had expired.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Continues to crash on MAC.

I purchased this software because it was the cheapest option to file in two different states. From the time that I installed it on my MAC, it would crash each time I would advance to the next step. I am not sure if it is because I have it installed on a MAC. It was sufficient to finish my taxes but I would have paid more for a software that I did not have to keep opening after it crashed.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents

Fast and Easy

I am 66 yrs old and have been using this program to do my tax returns for years. I would highly recommend. Price is affordable. Only flaw is that the fonts are not dark and not large enough for me to see easily in my old age.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I switched to H&R Block software a couple of years ago and I'm so glad I did. Their product is intuitively easy to use and I get done faster than the other product.

Capital Gains Excess processing missing

I have foreign-earned income and this year my return had a Capital Gains Excess. Your tax program doesn't compute the tax for the case of a CG Excess, so I had to calculate it manually. Because this requires editing the 1040 tax field manually, the H&RB return was not eligible for electronic filing, so I had to print and mail the paper return.
The CG Excess isn't really that hard to calculate and I don't understand why your program can't handle it. Otherwise the program is great, but this omission costs me time to print the return and then mail it (from a foreign country to the US).

Very Good except for a printing problem

I have used this product for several years and have had good results. This year I had a printing problem. The on line help did not deal with my problem so I tried the chat bot. The chat bot failed so I tried live chat. I reached a live person quickly but then got shunted into waiting for her reply forever. So I called the help phone line, went through the phone bot help, and then waited for 90 minutes to talk with a person. She dug deep and came up with a work-around that worked. Be careful if you are using a Mac with the latest Mac OS.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
