Beware of Pdf Uploads

This is the first time I've used the upload method to enter W2's and it didn't go so well.
Words were misspelled, amounts incorrect, and not assigned to correct person. I pretty much had to manually enter anyway...

BIG DISAPOINTMENT

After using the software for the last 12 years I had a problem getting the IRS to accept the electronic filing because they said the AGI didn't match even though even the official IRS transcript said it did. BUT what the heck it Covid Year and I figured there was problems to be expected. This year I have the same problem. If I can't file electronically what am I buying the software for? Yes I have checked the AGI again this year and it is entered correctly.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lack of Form

The same problem comes up every year. The Arizona state software does not include Form 348. I have to download it from the AZ website and fill it out outside the program. This makes it impossible to file the return electronically. Nearly everyone who files Form 323 (which is included) also files Form 348. When will you fix this problem? Or should I use TurboTax next time?

Great but one problem

I have been using H&R Block for 4 or 5 years. I have had no problems until today. Today when I was going to file my return, the program had my total gross income as my adjusted gross income from 2020. If I had not checked my 2020 tax return my tax return would have been rejected by the IRS.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

HRBlock Gets a Taxing Job Done

- The 2021 HRBlock Fed+State Deluxe got us thru the the tax return preparation process quite smoothly.
- However, printing the California Resident Form 540 "Not For Filing" documents was not as smooth as it should be. There are instances of "END OF PAGE x" and other misalignments that resulting in data being chopped between pages. E.G., the Mini-Worksheet for CA Use Tax breaks between pages.
The incongruous pagination may be due to the nature of the California Tax forms. However, one would desire that HRBlock create a way to correct this problem so users experience documents that align congruently.
- In the Fed Tax Return the "MINI WORKSHEET FOR LINE 30" is problematic. Attempting to fulfill the requirements of Line r. was impossible. It is probably due to how the way IRS designed the worksheet and how HRBlock software tried to implement it. This is the reason for the ding to the "Clear Instructions" question below.

The Submission was a Horror Story

The preparation of the tax return was fairly smooth. When it came time to submit (e file) the taxes, the wheels came off. I was in a constant "do loop" with error corrections that weren't errors and then disappeared. Erroneous refund information which also disappeared. I called H.R. hot line and after listening to 5 minutes of commercials, finally go connected and was told it would be an hour wait so leave a number and they would call me. I'm still waiting. Inf the meantime the errors went away themselves and the returns was accepted. I went through the same horror story on the state return. It took four attempts before it went through and I had to enter all the data from a 'saved' return before I could send it. Clearly, a very buggy program that need quality control.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Finally, a friendly tax program

I have used turbo tax for several years and it is always a struggle to say the least. This year I tried this program and in about over an hour I had both Federal and State taxes done with refunds on both for the first time in four years!!!! Super easy! I’m a friend for life!❤️

Easy Does It

I have used H&R tax software for many years and am completely satisfied with how easy it is to use. The results are readily accepted by Federal and State very promptly.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!
