Intuitive software that addressed my investment related tasks. Installation and carryover of information from prior year's taxes went very well.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

Very difficult to use. PDF imports are very weak and required manual editing.

Stale not up to the times

I have been using HR block for the past 7 tax years and its just the same old semi ok to use. The fact that it had to do another update while I was in the middle of efile and had to pay more for state efile! The menus are the same the look is the same the upsell the same.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy Tax Preparation

HR Block downloadable tax preparation tool is easy to use with guided steps. I really like the workflow approach to tax prep because it is easy for me to understand, basically it is declaring your income then see how we can reduce our tax liabilities through deductions, adjustments, credits, etc. I felt confident in my submission, like there is little chance I will be audited. And, of course, there is the convenience of e-filing and direct deposit of returns. With proper preparation throughout the year, doing taxes is easy at the end of the year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

Several Shortcomings

I have been a long-time loyal user of this software. I am not happy with having to download online, as being from the old school I liked having a disc at my fingertips. .However that is not the reason I've downgraded from previous 5 star ratings to 2 stars. I was unable to download extensive financial data from Charles Schwab, having to enter it manually. I assume this was an HRB problem, but if it was a CS problem, I would upgrade rating to 3 stars. I had to engage the Help staff to circumvent a problem e-filing my 1040. It insisted that I enter my spouse's 2020 AGI, although we filed jointly. The HRB rep was very helpful with this issue, after my return was rejected several times. The virtual Help chat was useless with these issues and it took forever to get a human helper on the phone. My hope is that 2022 will be as seamless as previous years.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
