Surprise Fees

I would have given a much better rating except for two things. 1) Had to wait for two updates before I could file because of Soc.Sec. I don't know why -- nothing was different after the updates. 2) There was no mention or warning of extra fees (2.49 percent) if you choose to pay what you owe on line. Too late now! Okay. I get it. It's only 2.49 percent, but it sure would have been nice to have known that before I signed myself up for it simply by selecting to pay online. The rest of my experience was very good. I would recommend this to a friend, but I would inform them of the fees they'll have to pay if they choose to pay online.

Federal was fine, State didn’t load

Won’t be buying this product again. State level loaded improperly and could not be used so I had to rely on paper/pen method. Where do I get my money back for defective product?
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Two things I would change. No way to sign an e-file, and very difficult to re-open and edit a state return. Otherwise, I would use again.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

I used to be a Turbo Tax user but about 5-6 years ago Turbo Tax messed up calculating the taxes on my stock sales - it actually showed I owned more in tax that the actual proceeds from the stock sales!! I had to open the .pdf files and manually make the corrections.
After that incident I was done with them...their software is unreliable, expensive, and not user friendly. Since then I've been using H&R block software and it is SO EASY to follow, understand, make changes, and eFile. I have told many friends to try H&R block software...they have and now they use it every year.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Switched from your major competitor years ago and haven't looked back! H & R works just as well (maybe better) and is a much better value. My taxes are no longer taxing!

Unclear directions and guidance

I've been using H&R Block Deluxe Software for about 10 years. Until last year (2020) the guidance provided in loading my information has been pretty clear. This year it seems you've lost interest in helping me do my taxes.
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
