Not the worst

Really not the worst for the new smart brick sets. Bought a few against my gut instinct just because I have a lot of Lego Star Wars and felt like I had to. It may be the worst landspeeder we have seen yet but it’s not the worst smart brick set. I mean none of these are the type of sets I gift my kids or much enjoy on my own time, better off finding a quality sealed older LEGO set online somewhere and buying it for your kid or yourself, it will be a more fun play experience and you’ll be impressed with the build and play features. I can’t fathom this new idea that instead of actual play features like projectiles, winches, opening and closing doors we are now throwing in a a simple sound brick (a poor sound brick at that) and deciding it’s so good we can design sets worse visually, lower brick count, and take away any real play features, deeply saddening choices by Lego here.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

despite this set being Smartplay compatible, I personally think this could've worked as a normal landspeeder if the smartbrick mechanism was replaced. also could've used old ben and/or C-3PO.

the set is middle of the road, but where is my smart brick? i have these "smart figures" and a compromised build to compensate for the brick and there is no brick! very disapointed

While these sets include SMART Tags and SMART Minifigures, you will need a SMART Brick to help bring them to life. SMART Bricks are found in LEGO SMART Play All-in-One sets and come with everything you need to start playing: The SMART Brick, SMART Tags, SMART Minifigures and the SMART Charger.

A Waste of Money

Lego has made MANY Landspeeders in the past, all with their own unique quirks and shapes. This one is objectively the worst. The set is priced $20 higher than it should be, the build isn’t even barely different than the old ones, it’s worse in detail. Good design practices got thrown to the side to make room for a smart brick which you have to buy from a different set (yes I know how the system works, I knew the smart brick wouldn’t be included while buying it) but turns out without the smart brick, it’s just a worse landspeeder. It would be better and cheaper to just buy the parts for your own landspeeder separately then to buy this set.

I am on the smartbrick train (or landspeeder)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, I want to say that I think it was almost inevitable that Lego would face blow back for such a large product change. Making a lot of of these introductory products Star Wars legos crosses over into another somewhat rigid fandom.
Smart bricks are all my seven year old and his friends talk about though! I believe it is the future of the product and going to get cheaper; better, etc. I also think eventually you’ll be able to buy individual bricks. I’m excited to get on board.
This set it relatively easy to put together while still fun, easily integrated and the minions are really good! It’s one of the lower priced items in the collection and a great addition.

A LEGO convert at 48!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I grew up watching my brother build entire worlds with LEGO, but I never picked up a brick myself. Until now. As someone who isn't a Star Wars fan and felt a bit intimidated by all the tiny pieces, I wasn't sure what to expect. To my surprise, I absolutely loved it. The instructions for Luke's landspeeder were incredibly clear and easy to follow. I've always felt a bit too young for a traditional puzzle. However this was the perfect way to relax and wind after a long work week.I'm officially hooked!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lego went above and beyond with these Star Wars legos, adding the new smart bricks technology has pushed them past what I expected. The quality of the design and look is what I expect from Disney and Lego. Get these new sets they are great.
