Why so many 3-star reviews? These Smart Brick sets are 5-star sets.
We were as skeptical as anyone: high prices, and a tech that was hard to understand from the box or even online descriptions. What is it again?! But wow—turns out to be fun, genuinely innovative, and very well executed.
Our 6-year-old son loves LEGO and will happily tackle sets whether they’re labeled 18+ (with a little help) or 8+. But before Smart Brick, he’d often admire a finished build for a few minutes and then ask for the next one. Smart Brick changed that. Sound has added a whole new layer of play to LEGO.
This Mos Eisley Cantina set, using the same rechargeable Smart Brick from our prior TIE Fighter starter set, has turned into hours of play. And he’s only seen a LEGO fan version of the original film to date.
I also didn’t fully appreciate how clever the technology was until we used it. This isn’t just prerecorded sound clips. It’s sound synthesizer paired with tag recognition, motion recognition and a surprisingly powerful speaker. The sounds change based on movement, characters, and proximity. That’s a lot more inventive than people seem to realize.
This Cantina set is extra fun because of the musical instruments and social energy. Sure, for original fans, it would have been nice to include Gan or Chewie as minifigures, but the tags and character choices they made are still clever and playful.
Bottom line: if you judge this only by piece count, you may miss the point. If you judge it by play value, creativity, and innovation, it’s really Lego at its best and getting better.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A Star Wars fan dream build!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My sons and husband are huge Star Wars fans and these new sets were a hit! We love the Cantina so a full set was so exciting to build. The smart play bricks are new to us and we were loving all the sounds that came from the characters and scene. This set does not come with a smart brick so this is something to keep in mind!

Loads of fun, high quality

It was easy enough to put together independently, but challenging enough to keep their interest. There are so many detailed pieces that make this set fantastic. The colors, interactive features, interchangeable parts are top notch. The instructions are easy to follow. The prices are durable and have stood up to accidental drops. Highly recommend!

This set, smart play Mos Eisley Cantina, was very exciting to build and hear the interactive play sounds! The characters are: Obi Wan, Greedo, Tatooine Storm Trooper and 2 cantina band members complete with microphone and saxophone!
My son liked the pieces that could mix and match (move to different sides to make new scenes) The inclusion of Greedo was nice but would've liked to incorporate Hans Solo... like the movie.... but ok. Smart brick used in the stereo was cool with its sounds.

Future advice for sets..
1.) Dewback build lacked detail and was a bit skimpy.
2. Blender needs a dome top and action preferably.
3. Make all figures smart compatible.

All in all this was a great set that took time and had us laughing and spending quality time together. Perfect way to spend the day with my teenage son.

The most iconic Star Wars location in my living ro

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I’ve been eyeing this Cantina set for a while and finally got it on my desk today. The smart play integration is actually pretty clever here, it makes the whole bar feel alive with the sound effects and stuff. I was worried it might feel a bit gimmicky but it actually adds a lot of fun when your showing it off to friends. The architectural details of the building itself are surprisingly solid too, I love the sandy color palette and how they handled the curved entrance.
The build took me a few hours but it never felt repetitive because there are so many unique little sections to work on. I almost forgot to put one of the transparant pieces in the bar lights but luckily I noticed before I finished bag 3! One thing to note is that it takes up a bit of space when its fully opened, so make sure you have a clear spot for it. Overall its a fantastic piece for any collector who wants a mix of classic star wars nostalgia and some modern interactive features. Definately a highlight of my collection now.

It was portable after build and the design was spot on! Its extremely durable and didnt fall apart when played with. Definitely Great buy !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son absolutely loved building this set. It took him almost 3 days, about an hour each day. The instructions are very clear so it was pretty easy to build. I love that the black part can actually move. So good for motor skills and to spend some time away from the screen.
