A good microphone with the right adapter.

I recently got this along with the HD 620S headphones. I intended it to be used with a small desktop mixer but I immediately ran into an issue - the mike cable would not work at all with the mixer. I tried various adapters - a 1/8" to 1/4" TRS adapter, a 1/8" TRS to 1/4" TS adapter, and a "tree" of adapters to XLR. Not until I got the Røde 1/8" TRS to XLR adapter, the VXLR Pro, would it work. This adapter also reduces the 48V phantom power to 5V plug-in power, and with this the mike works quite well. It is sensitive and has no detectable (by me) crosstalk or audio feedback. I have to say it seems more omnidirectional than cardioid, as it picks up room noise and fan noise from the computer more than my Shure SM58 does, so noise rejection seems somewhat poor, but I can work around this. The mike absolutely needs plug-in power to work well - this should be highlighted in the info. And if you want to use it with a mixer you must have the VXLR Pro adapter.
