Excellent features, great earbud

Having nearly a month with these AZ100, they are undoubtedly the best wireless earbuds on the market at the moment, but with a catch. Dolby Atmos on these is awesome. I love the multi point connection. The ANC is great and “Ambient Mode” is second best to the Sennheiser MTW4 but to be expected with Sonova acquisition of Sennheiser consumer side. Sound design is great as well; after some adjustments. I enjoy the punch of the bass in these earbuds but feel like that overwhelms the mids and highs in the music. Without adjusting EQ and without Dolby Atmos, these sound compressed/congested and almost as if it was designed to use Dolby Atmos at all times but that’s not an option to use with LDAC. While figuring this out about the buds, this has helped me find a sound that fits my listening style and the Audio Connect app has been beneficial to my experience with the AZ100. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a new earbud option in 2025, I look forward to the updates Technics has planned for these buds in the future! 👍🏽

A few of us got together on Reddit to try to fix the annoying issue of stuttering/pops on the Technics AZ100. They happen randomly while using the Bluetooth LDAC codec on many devices including my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. If someone has solved this issue please let us know. I dont understand why we are trying to solve this issue instead of Technics.

If you are using LDAC and multi-point together, change the “LDAC playback sound quality setting” and “connection setting” of the playback device from “prioritize sound quality” to “best effort” or “prioritize connectivity” to lower the bit rate.

Functional and comfortable

I love these earbuds. They sound better to me than AZ80s, MTW4s and AirPod Pros, and they are a more comfortable fit for me.
These are noticeably smaller and lighter than the AZ80s. So is the case. I like how the touch controls are implemented--the touch sensitivity and audible feedback are well-tuned. And the ear detector does a great job keeping the touch controls disabled until the buds are properly placed, unlike my MTW4s, which activated the touch controls just before the buds got to my ears, causing me to accidentally enable the one-tap controls configured on each bud. I've never had that happen with these, and I've also never had the touch controls fail when I try them, and I imagine it's difficult to strike that balance correctly, and I think these buds do a great job in that respect.
I have two complaints:
(1) They are hard for me to grip securely when inserting and removing them, and so I keep dropping them, which makes me afraid that they will break, but so far they haven't been damaged by their excursions beneath my filing cabinet. I like Apple's sticks for how they make it easier to hold buds, but I don't like using them for touch controls and think these are superior in that respect. I wish I could have both, but as long as I don't break these with my fumbling, it's fine.
(2) The charging case seems not as premium as competitors' I've seen, including Technics' own AZ80, probably as a result of the slimming, reshaping of corners, and the weight reduction. And the lid on mine doesn't perfectly align, but it's a purely cosmetic issue. This isn't something I care about very much, and since I am just keeping it my pocket all day, slimmer and lighter seems a fair trade for sturdiness. I don't worry that it will fail to serve its intended purpose.
On the whole, they work well, when I need them to, and they don't annoy me by doing things I don't expect. I have no regrets, and I'm happy to stop my earbud search here.

The best all-arounders you can buy

If you like the AZ-80’s, these are better in every single way. They’re more comfortable as they’re lighter, way better battery life, better sound, WAY better phone calls, and they have more features. The case is even more premium feeling and smaller! Sound wise, the big stand out vs the AZ-80’s is the bass. The bass is just ridiculous. Much much louder if needed, and the distortion is so low that if it can’t replicate a sensation of audio (sub 20 hz) you don’t hear/feel it. Bonkers.
I have two gripes though. I need a size between Large and Medium Large for my right ear. The left is perfect with the Large, but I’m just missing that in between size for my right. I’m using the large for the best seal, but it wriggles out pretty frequently. This doesn’t happen in my left, it’s like it’s not even there.
Secondly, I haven’t quite found a way to use the 8 band EQ to get quite what I want. The dynamic range is nuts on these things, and I want a way to be able to turn down that super high shrillness without killing the pleasant highs of a snare or other highs. You can tell stuff is recessed with eq, and the presets are just not quite there for me. If I got a 12 band EQ, I would be overjoyed.
All in all, I’m blown away by how good these are, especially for the size. I truly think these are the best all-arounders you can buy. Don't be fooled by "bigger" brands that are just as expensive (Apple, Sony, Bose). I come from those, and trust me, not worth it.

Full range speakers that fit inside your ear

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely fantastic earbuds. I've had a previous pair of headphones from a major competitor that were considered top tier. These blow them away in every category. The clarity of the music, bass tightness, and crisp mids is truly remarkable for in ear speakers! I have headphones that are double the price of the earbuds and these earbuds meet them as equals. These have made me rethink my opinions of earbuds as a category. I used to think they were only for exercising and chores, but these will get a lot more use.

Best Wireless earbuds i have heard

After owning the 80s, i didn't think you could get much better quality out of wireless earbuds, i was wrong. AZ100 are a massive step up in terms of soundstage and clarity, you can actually hear the new driver and brings much more detail and punch. Honestly almost made the AZ80's sound flat after trying the 100's, which I loved them when first released. Form factor makes them much better for the gym, and the microphone is crystal clear whenever i make calls in the office. Best wireless earbuds i have heard.
