Versatility and quality are top notch!

I have had the Everyday Zip 20L in Ash for over 1.5 years now and it's been phenomenal. It's pretty much filled the role that I bought it for, which is an everyday stylish carry that you can also take on a long trip around Europe as a carry-on, and occasional outings and hikes. It was very much on the pricier end for a backpack but after a long-term trial it definitely has paid off. The main highlights over this time have been:
1. Versatility: It stows all electronics safely, has great secondary storage pockets, that are quick to access (such as the one within the laptop pouch), and has a dividable main compartment. The divider came in very handy when I traveled through Europe, so that I could store less common items (such as raincoat and spare pants) from the commonly used items at the top for quick access. Having the access from the side (using the bottom zip) takes a bit of reprogramming in your brain but actually allows for much easier access when you have lots of clothes or other things piled on top of each other. At the same time it still maintains that original backpack, access from the top, approach. I've had this thing as an everyday carry for my laptop and uni stuff, travelled across Europe, and even took it on a multi-day hut hike. It's unfortunate I didn't buy the hip belt when I first got it because I would have loved to find out how much more comfortable the pack is with a hip belt taking the weight. Another cool way the backpack allows you to expand its functionality is with the inbuilt tie-down straps. 2. Waterproof: it is surprisingly water proof, which really showed itself when I took it hiking. I hiked a whole day in constant drizzle, to the point where the rain soaked through all my rain gear to my skin. The backpack however remained dry inside, with the water only soaking through the backpack at the top near the zippers. 3. Stain proof: I was surprised how little stain the light Ash colour has sustained in 1.5 years of use. Granted I am very careful but I have certainly seen similar packs turn black over this time. 4. Quality and finish: the quality of all the parts are certainly next level. After 1.5 years of use there is not a single thread out of line, not a single plastic part breaking down or leather cracking. It's still pristine. There is no slouching in the main shell which means it still maintains the space inside. The main back straps that attach via two swivel points at the top is also still holding, which I felt would be a definite failure point.
A couple of things I feel could be improved (although they are very nit-picky): 1. The main back straps are very hard from the start and have not softened that much. I initially thought that might be an engineering thing to make them hard at first and have them harden over time but they have remained quite hard. It's not really an issue unless you carry a lot of weight for a long time.It can also be offset by putting the chest cross-strap on which pulls the harder points away from the point where it contacts with the crease between your arms and your chest. PD could perhaps look at adding some more layering of EVA into those back straps. 2. The bottle holders are a bit small to carry common bottle sizes, or anything bigger than a standard coke bottle. 3. The nature of the multiple zip system means that occasionally one side of the zip slips in relation to the other, causing a small bulge on that size when two zips are next to each other. This can be corrected with much difficulty by trying to traction the material from one side into the right direction. I don't know if this can be prevented with a better zip type but it would be good to have. Otherwise the zips are actually first class quality.

Great Backpack for my daily stuf and camera carry

My everyday backpack when I do city tours with my guests or when I just want to take pictures alone. Normally I use the Everyday zip for the transport of my iPad pro, an additional sweater or a jacket in an XS ultra light pack Cube fits perfectly in this backpack. My Fujifilm X-S20 with a 27mm F1.2 from Viltrox as my street photography Erveryday camera. Or a Fujifilm X-H 2 with 17-70 zoom. In addition, I have a 0.5l drinking bottle with me and a few camera filters in a filter bag. For me the perfect daypack.

2 for practically 5 for looks and quality

5 stars for quality and design but only 2 for practicality.
Have had the 20L version for a while and use for work. The main compartment is fine, especially with the dividers removed, if a little lacking in places to put things.
The main issue is the back portion where the laptop goes, which is just too snug. My 14 Mac just slides in, with difficulty due to a short top zip, but once in there is no room for anything else. Kindle. Nope. iPad. Nope. Even though there is nominal pockets for them.
So ultimately I’m going to have to sell because for anyone with more than a small superthin laptop it’s an absolute pain. Looks great though.

Bag with design flaw
on January 22, 2026

The bag is good quality and well designed to be functional. However, I returned it because the bag has one major flaw. The giant metal pocket zipper on inner side of the flaps is rubbing against the glass on the camera lens and other side is rubbing against my camera LCD when I put my camera with lens mounted in the middle compartment. Even if it’s just a lens without camera, it’s rubbing against the glass of my lens. They should have used all magnetic clasps like the upper pockets. The exposed metal zipper is a major design flaw and shouldn’t be there especially for carrying camera gear.

I can’t in good conscience keep this bag or recommend this bag when there are so many others that meet or exceed it for half the price…

Great looks, challenging space
on March 22, 2025

Bought this a little while ago looking for a sleek unbranded pack. After numerous trips to Dubai and London I find this bag quite hard to get on with. There are some great points, the look, the comfort and the top zip pocket. After that it becomes hard to use day to day. There are literally no interior pockets apart from the side inner zip ones and the back laptop compartment is far too tight. I can get the laptop in (14 Mac) and little else. So my iPad and Kindle have to go in the front, eating valuable space. There is falls short of space due to the top lid design and the 20L size feels small very quickly. Even removing the dividers does not help much and I tend to use these to have my headphones at the bottom and the kindle in the middle. So, as a camera and lend back with a very small waterproof in the top, ok, but as a daily carry, unfortunately, hard to recommend.
