Turbo Tax is awesome!!

I am so impressed with the assistance I received earlier today from specialist Mystica. I needed help in moving forward to complete my State of Hawaii taxes after finishing my federal tax return. She was so efficient and patient in helping me navigate on my side. I am very appreciative for her help and understanding. She did an awesome job! I've been using Turbo Tax for years. It's reassuring to know that I can count on getting the assistance I need anytime.

TT did pretty darn good.

I use it every year. Nothing is 5 stars when it comes to doing taxes. But TT did pretty well this year getting me a major refund that I was not expecting (it was a very unique, once-in-a-lifetime situation).

New version a step backward. Mac needs work

I find the new UI for the financial gains entries a lot less efficient than in previous years.
I also switched from Windows to MacOS this year and the Mac UI needs improvements, for sure in these 2 areas:
1. When triggering something somewhere down a long screen, a dialog box needed to be acted upon that did not show on the screen, only after scrolling back toward the top did I find it...!!! Bad!
2. When clicking on Review for an entry in my imported 1099 entries, the app jumped back to the top and I had to scroll back down to the entry I wanted to review to proceed with that work. Bad!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Good. Has some gotchas like all software.

Everything was good except in the Federal Form I had a short 1099 stint. Federal form stated "If you have a business name enter it here or leave blank if none"
When reviewing it kept flagging that.
Then the software refused to EFile unless I filled something in there. I hope this doesn't cause issues with the IRS because at that point I would switch software and try someone else.
The re-entering of the bank account four times (2 for fed and 2 for state) is onerous.
Finally, I wish up front you asked for the Driver License information when identifying my wife and I and saving it there instead of at the end where it was a surprise to me.

Needs to look at other providers and copy

Good walkthrough but poor language with some questions. Worst is the double-negatives when the straight language could be used. Would be good if one doesn't understand if there were "rephrased" alternative language. Also, very poor at community property instructions. Should allow us to allocate by manual entry of Form 8958. It treats the income adjustments as "Other Income" which for the person with a lower true AGI, the positive allocation breaks the CA FTB Form 540 because it is not accounted for with W2, W2-G, 529, or 1099, etc. Thus, cannot e-file the state returns. Why even use TTax then? This is 3 years in a row now and it still is not addressed.
