Concern: Flaw with standard deduction selection?

I may have discovered a flaw in Turbo Tax that would have cost me almost $2800 on my Federal Tax. My wife and I filed 2024 Federal Return as married filing jointly. Turbo Tax recommended the standard deduction of $30,750 deduction which is higher than our itemized deductions of $20,257. Based on the turbo tax recommendation, we would owe $3303. However, when I checked the block to use the itemized deduction instead of the standard, I received a much larger minimum tax credit (1040 line 20 "Amount from schedule 3, line 8) increased to $11,868 vs $6,683 using standard deduction. This larger credit reduced the overall amount owed to $579. If I had used the standard deduction as recommended by turbo tax, instead of the itemized deduction, I would have paid $2724 more than what I actually owed the federal government. I am now going back over prior federal tax filings to see how much if i have overpaid in the past. Is this a flaw in the software program?

Powerful, but has some holes...

TT remains powerful and, relatively easy to use, but it's taken some steps back this year.
Handling of tax-exempt income has become more tedious and difficult, especially when you have dozens of states involved. There are no running totals to ensure your individual state entries add up to the required total amount. Worse, the TT makes addition errors making it impossible to complete your entries without "adjusting" entries (verified by using a spreadsheet to manage the state entries).
The It's Deductible tool has similar issues with ease-of-use, make entries slower than they need to be. There's no visible "tree" to help you navigate around the various categories, and no easy way to return to the "top" after you've drilled down into a category.
