I am not improessed with turbotax. Have used it for years and the quality has steadily degraded over that time and is a challenge to get loaded onto a Mac with poor guidance ahead of time and confusing intstructions
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Ran into a bug with the schedule E form that was reported in Feb and still not fixed. Had to figure out how to put together the form myself. Why am I paying for this? https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/investments-and-rental-properties/discussion/turbotax-asking-for-schedule-e-passive-operating-loss-on-rental-property/00/3495953

Easy to Use But Still Needs Some Improvements

For simple tax returns Turbo Tax is pretty easy and intuitive to use. But for more complex situations, even the higher level Turbo Tax Premier does not have the answers. Users need to research online and in the Turbo Tax community for correct ways to enter in the Easy Step or work-around by manually entering info, numbers, or checking the correct boxes in the individual forms.
For example, the 1098-T & 1099-Q comparisons, there are no interview questions to determine if one even needs to have the worksheets. TT could easily use the Easy Step and have users enter books & supplies, room & board, other required university fees that were not included in the 1098-T to compare against the 1099-Q to confirm if the 1099-Q withdrawal covered all of the qualified expenses.
Another situation is in adding the rollover from 529 accounts to Roth IRA allowances per the Secure Act 2.0. TT Easy Step doesn't ask if Roth contributions are specific to this type of rollover, add a column in the worksheet for this, and track the dollar amount for future reference. This is important because The Secure Act 2.0 allows $35K rollover from 529 to Roth IRA with yearly income limits.
Situations like these require several hours to research and takes time away from the entering the tax return. And there are some situations where one is 100% sure that the entries are correct.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
