I feel that you have taken advantage of your client base. I didn't realize that I would have to pay to process my one and only return through your site to the tune of $40 for the fed and $20 for the state. This information is only viewable at the conclusion of preparing the return. In the past there was one free and additional returns were chargeable. You seem to have become money hungry. There are other free preparation sites including at the IRS. I think I will try something different in the future.

Great program but needs a little work.

I had a difficult time finding the place to change my Sales Tax actual number once I'd entered an estimate. I thought I could come right back to it but it took me nearly 2 hours to find it. I knew where it should be but I couldn't get to the correct place

Fix approach to IPPIN

I don't recall the software prompt for IPPIN. Please put a reminder that a new IPPIN is required each year and direct your users to check their IRS website for the new IPPIN. This required me to file 4 times before I figured out how to fix it. Ultimately I found it buried in your Help Text for this form so I went to the Personal Information Form and enter it manually.

Depreciation for Schedule E

Please improve the input screens for Schedule E depreciation calculation. Base the input screens using the depreciation spreadsheet Form 4562. Even better, please add another column to Form 4562 and project the depreciation amounts for the next Tax Year. Also explain if and when preference adjustments are made to the depreciation amounts. Many other Turbo Tax users I talk with have the same problem with the depreciation calculation. Thank you for your attention.

TT works very poorly for state income tax return.

I've used TT every year for over 20 years. I think the Federal return is generally useable although if you own treasury and corporate bonds, it can get confusing with tax items like accrued market discounts and premiums. In addition, entering IRA RMDs isn't always as easy as it should be. The wording of some of the questions TT asks should be more clearly worded. My experience with TT and my state (WI) return is very poor. TT doesn't correctly carryover data from my federal to my state return. In addition, Wisconsin has different interpretations and definitions than the IRS on things like treasury bond interest income, and accrued market discounts and premiums. Trying to correct TT state returns to conform to these differences is impossible. I'm not a TT expert but it almost seems like TT deliberately designs their software to confuse, confound, and scare users hoping the user will call TT support for a fee. Maybe I'll try a competitor tax preparation product in 2025 or hire-out my tax preparation.
