Turbotax is helpful, but has room for improvement.

The section dealing with health insurance, especially if you're retired, needs to have more helpful details and added descriptions for high deductible vs regular deductible plans and forms received, along with keeping the nomenclature the same. There should be 'running score' of the taxes owed as you progress through the return. (There used to be years ago)

Personal Pin verse IRS Theft Pin

Never asked for IRS ID Theft Pin during personal info section nor when preparing to file tax return. Not aware of difference between Personal pin and IRS ID pin, required resubmission of E-file.

Multiple issues using 2024 TurboTax Premier

The software app was a mess this year. Multiple errors and issues. Had to jump through hoops to get the software install activated. Several things did not work correctly. Had issues importing my electronic forms that have worked without any problems in the past. I've been using this for years but I'm not sure I will be using this software after what I experienced this year. I almost gave up trying to get the software activated. That was absolutely ridiculous.

Phone help impressive! Bank import not

I was impressed with calling the tax line: very responsive! I still needed to pay $50 for CPA advice, and they called me right away!
I do have trouble with importing my bank information. I log in to my accounts but it never transfers over to turbo tax (last year or this year)

Turbo Tax works well but has some rough spots.

Turbo tax does a great job of keeping everything organized and preparing the tax return. The Help function is not very useful and preparing estimated taxes for next year is obscure.

Beware of E-file for state charges

TurboTax charged me $20 to efile the state and then didn't let me e-file the state. It wanted to charge me another $20.

Missing information pulled from 2023

My only issue was with NY state return. There is a question requesting information from 2023 on total tax and NYC and Yonkers tax. It seems to me that information could be pull over in the setup of the state return. New design for federal income section that was imported worked very well.
