TurboTax is not worth it

Turbo Tax misses information presented in tax forms and costs too much money. E-file should be provided by the federal government for free. Down with the Intuit lobbyists who continue to make it so most people have to pay for e-file.

Lots of trouble loading it, much prefer the CD version as in the past. Plus I was supposed to get 1 free state e-file and yet I was charged the normal fee (no one else has used it before me)...false advertising!

2024 TurboTax Premier Mac desktop version

For the first time, I used the Mac desktop version of TT Premier. It couldn't read my 2023 tax file which I had saved in OneDrive and I had to manually enter data. Ridiculous.
When it came to e-filing the Federal return, the transmission kept failing because my product was apparently not fully updated. It was not exactly easy to figure out how to do that. Sheesh. If I had not been using TT for more than 20 years already, I would have just switched to another product. Not a happy camper.

Mac Version is Lacking

In 2024, I switched from Microsoft's to Apple's operating system and thus used the Mac version of TurboTax Premier. I discovered that Microsoft's version was superior, and there may be some bugs in the software. One example is going from the entries to forms: a truncated view of the page often did not appear at the top of the corresponding form. Also, I skipped over calculating my estimated taxes and discovered that I later could not gain access to them, once I had completed the Federal and State returns. Next time, I will enter some slapdash estimates as place holders.
Due to various difficulties, I called the help center more than usual. I found that the staff was very helpful and patient. Five stars for them, three stars for the software.

TT...Consider your taxes complete!

Some lacking in support with laws and regulations. TT 2024 did not recognize the fact that the state of Washington has no State Income Tax within the process (I received message that I needed to complete the state of Washington return in order for there to be recognition that I departed the state at retirement).
When doing my state return (Pennsylvania) it indicated that I had "Employee Business Expenses", because my federal return held Form 2101 for some reason...I never claimed Employee Business Expenses (although I may have stated into the process to claim having had previous years with expenses). So the form was there and the state review saw it as an error. AI...not quite there yet!

Lousy interface software. Does not bring data from one product/version to another.... even though its TT.
Made me buy 3 different products and still had to enter info manually.

I like using TurboTax, and I have been using it for years. The only issue is the "help", it is not very helpfull
