Low value giveFreeTaxUSA produces the same numbers

My review is based on value for amount paid. The only reason I filed with TurboTax is for their audit support. The free filing software options produce the same refund. Given my audit risk is low, I may go back to the free filing software next year. For what ends up becoming a pretty expensive annual subscription, TurboTax has a UI that feels old, slow, and clunky. And all of the money grabs feels cheap.

From Longtime User to Frustrated Filer: My TurboTa
on April 7, 2025

from TX
After using TurboTax for my 2024 tax filing (married filing jointly) since 2014, I regret to say this was my most frustrating experience with the product.
Several critical issues arose during my filing process:
The tax amount owed failed to refresh when importing new data from investment and savings accounts. This required me to restart the entire filing process multiple times.
The software wouldn't allow me to correct a small typo, forcing me to begin the filing process yet again.
During submission, the application became stuck in validation. After exiting and restarting, it finally worked, but this left me concerned about potential duplicate ACH withdrawals for my tax payment.
The desktop version's reliability has significantly declined compared to previous years. After a decade of loyalty to TurboTax, I'll seriously reconsider using the desktop version for future filings.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax not user friendly RE: AZ QCO tax credit
on April 7, 2025

Federal return went smoothly. AZ turbo Tax simply did not offer a place to list "AZ Tax Credit for an AZ qualifying Charitable Organization". I spent an hour reviewing every question on every screen. I finally called a local friend who said use AZ form 321.

The product is getting quite expensive for a digital download and now that there is no physical media involved you should be able to drop the price also the crypto currency section is hard to find as this is a new type of financial asset there should be a dedicated button to take me to this section.

When I exit Turbo Tax during a return, I would like it to reopen to the exact question I last worked on. Turbo tax thinks there program is perfect they only offer help on taxes can't contact if there is a question on how program work.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
