Good Federal, but has State return issues
on April 2, 2025

Federal tax development is excellent. State tax development still has fuzzy logic and lacks adequate help description popups. Since my income is derived from non-W2 process, it is not clear how to present those nontaxable incomes. Also, there remains much data that does not transfer forward from Federal to State. I always itemize my State returns regardless of Federal status, and the software makes it unclear how to process my State return.

Turbo tax support was terrible.

Worst experience I have ever had with Intuit. I have been a QB, QB Online and TurboTax user for may years. Could file my federal return online but spent over 2 hours today trying to e file State return. No luck. Finally gave up and will file by paper and snail mail. They offered me a free state efile after 1.5 hours but no one could figure out how to use the service code # they gave me to file. Finally said my time is worth more and I will paper file.

Turbo Tax has a bug.

Turbo Tax works ok, but you definitely need to manually verify your forms before submitting. There is a mistake in the Premier 2024 edition that incorrectly reports K-1 information for Box 13, Code AE as other taxes on Schedule A, Line 6. Box 13, Code AE is subject to 2% AGI and is no longer deductible on individual returns. If you don't correct this mistake, TurboTax Premier will incorrectly increase your Schedule A deductions resulting in overstating your actual itemized deductions and impact actual tax due.

Data download vs manual entry
on April 2, 2025

New method of manually entering interest, dividend and stock transactions was painful. If brokerage is not listed for download or there are nuances to the data that makes manual loading a better option, then the new method is cumbersome, time-consuming and illogical.

Pretty good if compared to other choices

TT is the only decent product for US taxpayers, including those living abroad. These latter though, are discriminated as only payments from a credit card with a US-based address is allowed. If citizenship-based taxation is in place, then also citizenship-based rights (including the right to have a non-US address and a non-US bank) should be acknowledged. Wondering why this is so difficult to understand.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Continues to be a Great Product to Prepare Taxes

I have been using Turbo Tax since it was first released over 20 years ago. It continues to be a great product to prepare your taxes. My one issue is that, for experienced users, it should be easier to delete a schedule that is no longer needed from the previous year's return.
