ONE STEP FORWARD, TWO STEPS BACK
on April 1, 2025

Every year different. This year entering 1099 INT and DIVs, selecting I'll fill out myself takes one to a screen with no clear directions. Selecting INT or DIV takes one to another screen again without direction. Finally if you persist you end up on the 1099 form. Software should take you direct to your last year's form for one to enter values. Overall TT works and I will use it this year (2025).

Had bugs this year that could have caused an audit
on April 1, 2025

I did not engage in any help.
I did discover two 'bugs' in the software, both related to CarryOver from the previous year (2023)
In both cases data was correct but was deposited into the 2024 Returns in the wrong place.
One during the import, the Total Fund Market value was placed into the Tax owed (yikes, 100 times too big).
The other was the Refund for the Federal return was to be used for estimated taxes for 2025. This took several hours to find, discover how to fix, and fix it. What happened is the same Federal Estimated tax value was moved into the Estimated Tax for 2025 for the Georgia State Return. This was a large sum that surely would have been caught by the state, becaus they never got those dollars.
Taxes took longer because the software "walk thru" was redesigned and I had to learn how to navigate the new interface. Yes your software has not chaged in 20 plus years. That made it easy because it was familiar (a good thing). Otherwise it was pretty much smooth sailing.

it was ok overall needs to improve finding the previous year's taxes into the new form. Or provide easier instructions on how to do it.

State E-Filing shows double amount
on April 1, 2025

All was good and i opted in for e-filing the state. It said that it is $20 but on one of the screens it showed $40. I decided to go forward and see what it will end up being. It showed $20 at the credit card screen. Are you guys testing this?

TurboTax has terrible user interface

Very tedious repetitive process. Instead of moving to the next step it goes back to the overview catergory menu (e.g. Income, deductions, etc.). Not a good user experience

I can't afford a CPA to prepare my taxes and I can't do them by myself without a lot of help. That is where Turbo Tax help me put everything in order and files a return in which I have total confidence.

Extremely buggy; conflicting information
on April 1, 2025
Posted by: dont_spam_me
This software has clearly gone downhill. Despite being the most expensive, "Premier" version, it is unsuitable for anything besides the most basic returns. Questions it asks are vague and I had to search online with practically every step to determine what was actually being asked. It appears that Intuit has fired every competent engineer and tax professional and replaced them with a generative AI.
