TurboTax is OK

I have been using TurboTax since 2017. Being able to link brokerage accounts is a great feature, but the way the appplication progresses is frustrating because it seems that the downloaded broker info isn't always being applied in the appropriate section of the app. On Lne13 of my Maryland return I was surprised that TurboTax had not produced form 502SU, from which the amount in Line 13 is taken. Maryland estimated taxes are entered during completion of the Federal return. When I got to the state return I had forgotten this and there is no place during state return completion that is a reminder that estimated taxed were already entered.

Not good this time

I would have given 5 stars in each one of the last 30 years or longer I am using Turbotax. I usually filed by mail - no problem. This year I decided to file electronically and it was a nightmare. My returns were rejected repeatedly for multiple times because of the IND-181-01 error. I tried to contact Turbotax but no answer. The instructions given to correct the error were very vague. I had entered the 5-digit number for identification, as instructed, but then the instruction for the correction were for a 6-digit number provided by IRS ... very frustrating... At the end, I decided to file by mail, as I did in the past.

Form 1116

The major problem I experience with Turbotax is the way it handles Fromm 1116 (foreign tax credit.) When analyzing the return, in some situations Turbotax asks for more information that it did not ask in the interview. What it wants is ambiguous. This needs to be improved. Otherwise, the program works well.

I could not do my taxes without TurboTax. I cannot say what product is the best, but I was able to complete mine. My only suggestion would be to update the software to contain all of the possibilities found in box 14 of a W-2. The pulldown list does not contain all possibilities.

Screwed Up Kentuck y state tax software

The Kentucky Non-resident state tax software was screwed up, failing to record certain information and to recognize what was going on!!
