.My yearly go to
on March 30, 2025

Easy to use, for some reason 2024 did not automatically enter 2023 data (probably my fault, but I couldn't make it happen). I've used Turbo Tax for years and it has always been easy and accurate.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

been using Turbo for many many years. Had to call for support on one question related the HSA. Turbo asked if we had medicare and yest but only Medicare A, so question could be more specific. The support team is very helpful and knowledgeable; glad they are available.

East to use. Self explanatory. Love that it remembers your last return. This saves so much time.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easy parts easier; difficult parts just as bad

I have used TurboTax for several years now. The experience pretty much is consistent: the imports from banks and financial institutions (e.g. Schwab; E*Trade, etc.) are for the most part OK once all the OAuth forms are filled out. This import is probably the one reason I use the Premier edition so that I don't have to manually add these sections. BUT...
For this year, when TurboTax Premier tries to predict the income sections based on last year's return, it copied all the sections like 1040-INT, 1040-DIV, etc. Then after importing from the banks, instead of updating the corresponding sections, it added a duplicate section (i.e. for each bank, there are now 2 1040-INT sections), leaving one of them at $0. So now I have to delete the empty ones. And each time I delete one section, the screen scrolls to the top. So I have to scroll down to try to remember where I was. I ended up deleting ALL the previous copied sections and import again. Therefore, I had to repeat all the OAuth dance yet again for each bank. This is a pretty clumsy UI for a DESKTOP app in 2025.
Many "less common" sections offer no help; I either had to know when to use what or I'd breeze through them with no help. This has always been the case.
Lastly, during the error checking phase, when a section is found that needs fixing, it's not clear if I should enter the value as prompted on the screen or edit the preview of the tax form where the box is highlighted. Or should I do both?
My guess is that all the focus is on the Web version of the product, and the desktop versions are left to die with the older folks. And oh by the way, the DVD is gone; I have to download the app now.

Turbo Tax Care

Wilma was the person who helped me through my questions.
It was a very pleasant experience. She answered all of my questions and patiently walked me through every step of the way. In the end it feels like the problem is solved. I received a good explanation as to why I will be making estimated tax payments quarterly.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

Difficult to just print and Mail a State return
on March 30, 2025

The program overall lets you do everything, but often is not clear on more advanced issues like investments. The final instructions to Mail or send are not always clear. My state I don't want to E-file with, but Turbo tax wants to charge me and hides all the information to mail in the return. Make it simple and clear directions on what I need to send if I E-file or if I want or need to mail the return. It needs to be very clear.

Continue to raise the price and don't improve the product. I'm about ready to change.
