Turbo tax is average but is pricey & not up to snu

Price is way too high, certain forms are not available for automated prep such as Schedule J or Form 172? These should be easily available for Turbo tax to determine their outcome on a personal or trust???

I was very surprised to find out that I am not able to file 5 federal returns with eFile. I do all the taxes for my family of 5 plus my 87 year old mother's that I do not charge for. That, and the fact I need to pay for each state eFile is forcing me to look for another tax software for next year's filings. I loved Turbo Tax in the past, but it is no longer competitive at these prices, especially with the limitations of eFile and eFile state cost. I hope you can resolve the cost issue, if not I will be looking elsewhere.

Good & useful product, needs more thorough testing

I have used TurboTax for >15 years, so have a reasonable amount of experience with it. It gets 4 stars - a "Good" rating - because two programming errors have cost me several days of unnecessarily wasted time. When preparing 2024 federal taxes, TurboTax failed to import some 1099's from our accounts at Fidelity Brokerage (although they were included in the list of downloads). Other uses appear to have the same issue. Furthermore, the new interface for investment income makes it difficult to see what forms have been populated until you click "Done with Investments". There was also a mysterious discrepancy in capital gains that persisted several days, then just as mysteriously resolved itself. TurboTax's other painful glitch arose with my 2023 return, where the "Capital Loss Carryforward" was done wrongly. In the end, I had to go back 2-3 years to see where/when the data had been miscalculated; update TT for previous years and recompute the Carryforward worksheet; then discard the 2023 return (that was almost complete) and start over. OK, this was a year ago, but it cost me about a week of wasted time AND it makes me a bit distrustful of TT. So I check and crosscheck. Overall, it is a useful product but it needs more thorough testing, in my experience.
