TT 2024 is confusing and hard to follow.

every year I have a couple of issues with getting turbotax to do what I know is needed. This year in my NY state tax returns I was asked to enter my nursing home insurance costs but first there was a question (required on the NY state return about my history of committing fraud. Somehow (default?) I accidentally answered yes and was unable to change this response because turbotax did not allow going back to the question. This blocked me from entering what was needed for this major state tax deduction. I went to the NY tax form and saw that they did not distinguish who the insurance was for (me or my wife (joint return)) so I bypassed the problem by entering the insurance info for my wife in the turbotax dialog instead of me as she was not blocked by turbotax as I was. This bypass got the info into the NY State form just as if I had entered it for myself. Seems I always end up playing games like this to get things to work because of funny blockages in the dialogs. Other times I have to go into the forms to see what is going on or to force information into the forms that the turbotax dialogs do not work for me.
Also this year I had a hang up on the e-file transmit because there was another needed turbotax update. But update failed and hung so it could not be restarted. After a few hours I tried treating turbotax ap as being "hung" even though you could still process through screens. I force quitted (in Apple OS) the turbotax program and restarted it which brought up an automatic turbotax update - then the e-file transmission went through properly.

Good program even with complex taxes

Overall a really easy program. I have used H&R Block before... also a good program. In fact, in the past it made it easier to find a form. If TurboTax finds an error, it makes it easy to correct, but does not take right to the form, so you miss the context, without extra work.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

we pay you so you can lobby to make filing our taxes harder. now i can't efile because of a joint occupancy and some credit that needs to be fixed. it was supposed to be fixed a second time yesterday and now it is delayed until the 4th.
