Problem with importing financial data
on March 26, 2025

I had a little trouble with TurboTax this year. I had already imported my account info from Schwab but for some reason it did not seem to process that data all the way through to the worksheets. TT asked me to input that 1099-Div and 1099-int into the worksheet when it ran to check for errors. I input what it requested, and I knew right away that something was wrong. So, I had to go back and re-import my data from Schwab again. I started to really question if TT was putting the data into the correct parts of my return. I think it did, so I went through the process of E-Filing, but it did cause some anxiety.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Suggestions for TurboTax

As I advance through the options for a review, I have to continue to re-answer questions or select buttons. This gets very annoying since I do multiple pre-submit reviews. This is the same every year.
If I ask TurboTax to use my bank for direct deposit/withdrawal, why must I reenter the same name/routing number/account number for the state return. I guarantee it didn't change. I realize there may be a perceived security risk if I finish the Federal and come back to do the State later, but this is all in the same session. Since I'm on my PRIVATE computer, this shouldn't be an issue.
I'm not a fan of the new way of managing multiple down loads from financial institutions is a little confusing. I'm not a fan.
I've been using TurboTax since the software I used on my Mac was bought by TurboTax. I think that was in the Early 1990's.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Good product. HSA question always confusing to me

Would be good when importing brokerage data it would handle section 1256 options contracts or at least highlight this data exists and needs to handled. First time I had this (mark to market) and could have easily have missed it. The question about high deductible insurance for HSA is always confusing. I am retired but not on Medicare and I am on my wife's high deductible insurance with HSA. I have never had my own HSA and question about my insurance coverage is confusing for my case.

I've been using Turbo Tax for since 1991. I really like the product. In recent years, I've been using the Premier Edition. For the price of this product, you should be offering free electronic State filing to go along with the Federal. If you included the electronic State filing you would have gotten 5 Stars.

Turbo Tax does not allow you to print individual pages that appear on your screen that are not part of the tax return or supporting worksheets. Working through the investment income data appears to be more complex than past years. When entering, K-1 data if a K-3 was needed, you could not get the info off a K-3 because was not available.

TurboTax works, but had to create 8283 manually

Overall TT was able to produce my taxes. However, the software has bugs when it came to charitable contributions and generating form 8283. In the end I had to manually create the 8283 and file a printed return.
