TurboTax vs Tax preparation

TurboTax worked well for me this year. Glad to save Tax preparation fees. Takes some work to accomplish on my own even with TurboTax. Helps to have previous years returns to compare to.

Giving all this info to the government and using tax software is the stupidest thing to do. Otherwise, the program works well.

I only gave four starts because it was extremely difficult to access last years return. Online help was great, but it should not have been necessary to call for this issue. The program is easy to use, and taxes were completed quickly. I have been using Turbo Tax for approximately 20 years, first time I've had this issue. I believe the problem is I have serveral identities, and will try to correct this after tax season is over.

Generally very good. But awkward to find answers on some things. For instance, I wanted to know where to put in the Third Party Designation "YES" (which I had last year). The search feature in TT would not give me a good answer on what to do. I had to go to the support and finally was able to figure it out. There have been other similar issues. It can be awkward. I feel like it sort of tries to push the user to paying for the paid "expert" help. Understandable marketing strategy, but aggravating as a long term customer.
