Turbotax walks you through the process very well as long as your taxes are simple and straightforward. The Intuit help line makes up for what Turbotax lacks in completeness.
I had an error involving foreign tax credits, and it offered a suggestion to modify a non-existent field on an obscure form. I called your support line and spoke to a very knowledgeable agent. She was able to view my screen and spent over half an hour diagnosing the problem. The fix had nothing to do with Turbotax's suggested solution. I would personally give this agent a big tip if I could.

I have used TurboTax for quite a few years. I have seen many significant improvements through the years. I never got any auditing from IRS because the use of this software.
However, I do see something that could give taxpayers more convenient. That is to include as many finance institutions, investment brokers and banks as possible in your download list for tax docs. For example, Capital one bank does not seem to be in your download list for the tax docs . This was only bank (I think it is pretty big one) I had to use manual way to fill. The other was social security tax form. Hopefully IA could help you to make it even more robotic and error free.

2024 not up to previous Turbotax

I have been using Turbotax for over 20 years with good results. I am disappointed with the 2024 version.
It is too menu driven for inputs especialy for investments that are not downloaded frm brokerage.
Many of the inputs could be entered on one page instead of multiple pages e.g. K-1 inputs
The software seems to be written for a first time user.
Also I had to manually download the final update on March 25 due to an incompatibality with Microsoft -- that is unacceptable. I may try different software next year
