TurboTax needs work.

Data entry for 2024 tax year is flawed. Specifically, Form SSA-1099 data can only be entered manually. Also, data entry for RMD generates errors unless you are very careful. The TurboTax questions generate this confusion. The folks at TurboTax are not interested in my comments and I have been using it since the mid-1980s.

Still the best after using for 15 years.

Had a problem importing data from my E*Trade account. Had to manually enter data. E*Trade was bought by Morgan Stanley last year and changed its name to Morgan Stanley Capital Management. Turbo Tax insistently wanted me to enter data from the old E*Trade name and would not let me to proceed until I entered 0s for that account. I could not find a way to erase to old account.

Beware of Efiling fees
on March 20, 2025

The product is great. The problem is that Turbo tax adds additional surprising fees at the end in order to e-file. The customer is taken advantage of because the customer wants to finish the process. Any fees should be up front with the price of the software

I did not engage with live expert. I found the helpful hits confusing sometimes, but overall it was o.k.

CD for Me
on March 20, 2025
Posted by: OldCDcustomer
I was not as pleased with the product this year because your company no longer has the CD. The download caused problems with my "old" Iphone.
On the day that I purchased the download, my phone became contaminated with "something." My phone has not been able to receive, delete or access my hotmail.com account. I have to use my laptop to access my email. Please bring back the CD for next year. And if you have any information about how I can get my iphone and email back--please help me. I found this year's use of your product very frustrating. I use the CD, not download. I am afraid that my phone was contaminated with a virus. I don't trust the download like I trusted the CD. I am not even sure that I bought a "new" product because I bought it online. When I used CD for many previous tax years, I knew it was new because I went into the store and bought it and opened it myself. I had it delivered to my residence, last year and I knew it was brand new, not used. This year, I bought it online and do not even know if it is a fresh, new code and number. Is there a way that you can check to see if my expensive Premier download was new? Can you tell by the code?

Not as great as in the past - missed forms
on March 20, 2025

We've been using TurboTax for many many years, and we've never had problems with missed forms. This year, some of the prompts were missing and the review did not notice that the information from form 1095A was missing from Schedule 2. Our return was rejected several times before we managed to fix all problems. In the past, all problems were corrected during the pre-filing review.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
