TurboTax is simple!

I have used several tax preparation programs in the past, from TaxAct to the proprietary Liberty Tax software and TurboTax is far and away the best I've ever used.

TurboTax Awesome app - reporting one problem

I've used TurboTax for years - Awesome App. 2024 Premier does have some type of problem with HDHP tracking. It somehow assumed there was not an active HDHP for each month for the main taxpayer when the spouse had an HSA. Yet, it never asked and I had the form to confirm. I needed to go into the forms manually to check each month of family HDHP coverage for the main taxpayer.

Solid Product, Used Desktop Version For Years

Have never had return issues with TurboTax and have used it for many years, always the desktop version. Navigation when you go backwards (During TurboTax guided walkthrough of sections) and sometimes when you save and return needs to be more robust. Sometimes you have to repeat sections that have already been filled out. Each section should have a "bookmark" when you return to the return so that this doesn't happen. Also rental property section omits personal usage review where you put in how many days property was up for rent versus used as personal lodging. All in all, it is much simpler than filling out taxes manually.

Mineral Rights Bonus Payments

All entries handled satisfactory except Mineral rights Bonus payment. Bonus payment should be processes with other royalty. Software currently handles mineral rights bonus payments as rental property.

Difficult to import files and attachments

Using the desktop version I could not import 1099 files saved on my computer. The customer support person said this could be done with the online version of turbotax but not the desktop version.
I could not figure out how to add a supporting document regarding a mistake made by a financial institution concerning missed RMD distribution.

Cumbersome to input the 1040ES info ; because I also adjusted the withholding on my 1099R a few weeks ago. I had to use the "Override" function.
