I've been using Turbo Tax since 2007 and it has guided me successfully through a small business, stock transactions and rental real estate. I did miss the "automatic update" feature of the software this year.

TurboTax Desktop Headaches

I have been using TurboTax Desktop for about 20 years and I've never had a problem, including the different versions (Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business). This year, there was a programming error in the Deluxe version which prevented the software from performing the automatic updates. The error was reported to Intuit (elevated to corporate management), and to solve my problem, I was upgraded to the Premier version. This worked fine until I tried to file my taxes, then it would not recognize my Advantage Plan membership and tried to charge me fees that I shouldn't have to pay. I had to drop some options in order to file my taxes. I'm hoping next year returns to the high quality that I've had in the past.

Love TurboTax Premier

I have been using TurboTax Premier for at least a dozen years now. It is very easy to work with, and I especially like that I can import all of our investments into the software easily.

Still a good Tax Preparation Option

I have used Turbo tax for the last 15 years. The basics of Turbo Tax is still very sound and for the most part easy. The only problem I had was when I printed a PDF copy for my records, it took me back to turbo tax to open it. I DIDN'T LIKE THAT. It made transferring the PDF copy to another hard drive for safe keeping cumbersome.

Please correct Turbotax 1099r Inputs

Turbotax needs to update the handling of 1099R's to reflect the investment industry practices. Where there are multiple accounts, the investment firm may take an excessive amount from one account to cover the RMD for another account. The language and forms in turbotax do not reflect this practice, and leads to paying excessive taxes. This is new this year, or the withdrawals had always matched the accounts in the previous 8 years.
